Obituary for Ralph N. Abernathy
Ralph Abernathy, age 72 of the Martins Creek section of Cherokee County, passed away Monday night, December 2, 2013, at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home. He was born October 14, 1941 to the late Joseph Abernathy and the late Birdie Bruce Abernathy. He is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Abernathy, sister, Blanch Rhodes, sister Mag Beavers, sister Ola Johnson, brother Melvin Abernathy, brother Henry Abernathy, brother Paul Abernathy, brother Perry Abernathy, sister Eva Schyde, sister Kate Lee, and brother Stuart Abernathy in addition to his parents
He is survived by his wife Maggie Poteet Abernathy, son Dean (Sybil) Abernathy, daughter Angie Morrow and fiance Rick Anderson, grandchildren, Ricky (Jenny) Morrow, Andrew Morrow and Brent (Tosha) Morrow, great-grandchildren Brittany Morrow, Ryan Morrow, Aiden Morrow and Lakita Morrow.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Guy Wayne Shook officiating.. The Martins Creek Fire Department and grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy from 6 PM till 9 PM.
