Mrs. Carter was my CBE teacher in 1977/1978. She inspired many, gave us skills for life use, confidence, the importance of humor and wit and it was a joy to have known her. I am so saddened to hear of her loss. I meant to call her every time I was in Blairsville and now of course have regrets. I know that her family will miss her, she was a true gem. She will never be forgotten and I am forever grateful for all that she gave me during that short year in high school! She changed many lives and is responsible for the success of so many of us! Godspeed Mrs. Carter!!

Everyone at our shop was very sad to hear of Mrs. Carter passing away. She was so funny and always smiling, even coming in to get an estimate. She will be greatly missed.

Jean and her very patient and caring son were so much a part of the annual Yellow Daisy Flower Show presented by Redbud District of Garden Club of Georgia. She diligently organized marvelous horticulture exhibits for the show and their arrival as we accepted and placed exhibits was a highlight of the process. She is fondly remembered. I am so sorry to hear about the death ofMiss Jean. She and I worked together on many Youth projects for The Garden Club of Georgia. One of our most happy experiences was planning a traveling Youth Camp for 9 - 13 year olds called "From the Mountains to the Sea". Jean was instrumental in talking our garden clubs into sending youth from all over the state to this camp. She will be missed by many!

All of the Mullis kids -- Perry, Roscoe, Franklin, Ida, Marian, and Jean were amazing. My childhood memories are vivid when it comes to Thanksgivings in Valdosta; the antics of my cousins, the stories of my aunts and uncles. The humor, and the story-telling. In my professional life I am a story-teller and have spoken to groups in many places around the world. And I learned the skills from the Mullis Kids. I dearly loved them all. Aunt Jean, though, was a special member of a special group. When I was 14, I think, I went to Ft. Pierce for a couple of weeks to stay with Aunt Jean, Uncle David, and my cousins. Biking around Ft. Pierce, trips to the Indian River to the orange juice factory, the lime and lemon trees in their yard. The wild boar running through the neighborhood. Shooting off model rockets in the nearby schoolyard. And Aunt Jean. Brilliant. Funny. Loving and Challenging and Caring all rolled into one. She adored my mother, and she made it clear she adored me, too. I will always remember her with warmth, fondness, and will never forget the sheer joy of her laughter. You don't have a choice when it comes to family; you get what you get. But on both sides I was incredibly fortunate. Certainly more than I could have chosen. Aunt Jean and I would talk about books and authors; and she was always there to hear what I'd read, and what I think, and help me focus my opinions. She never stopped teaching. I am forever in her debt, and my life is immeasurably richer for having known her. Rest in Peace, Aunt Jean, and thank you.

Aunt Jean was the sweetest of all. Her constant display of affectionate words to all of us kids will be remembered always.
