Obituary for Roger Cobb

Mr. Roger Lee Cobb, age 67, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Roger was born in Ducktown, Tennessee, a son of the late Ivan Tiberious Cobb and the late Louetta Smith Cobb. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, as a mechanic in the armored division. A member of Youngcane Masonic Lodge, F & AM, #597, Roger served as Past Master, District Deputy, and as Secretary of Youngcane Lodge for many years. He was a member and deacon of Union Baptist Church.

Roger is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bonnie Nix Cobb; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and David Webb, and Sarah and Adam Copeland, all of Blairsville; Sister, Marie Adams, of Cleveland, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Gerald Mong, of Medina, Ohio; and Wanda and Toby Laseter, of Blairsville. Four grandchildren: Chelsea Lee Kinnersley, Tiberious "Ty" Copeland, Christina Gracie Copeland, and Roger Blake Webb. Many nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., at Union Baptist Church. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Buddy Rowan, Richard Corn, Randy Brown, Jerry Roberts, Johnny Evans, James Grizzle, Wayne Roberts, and Roy Phillips. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with Masonic Graveside Services. Visitation at the funeral home will begin on Tuesday evening, after 5 p.m., with the family especially meeting with friends between the hours of 5 until 9.

Flowers will be accepted; however, if you wish to do so, memorial contributions may be made to Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; or Youngcane Masonic Lodge, #597; Julius Chambers Scholarship Fund.
